The 10 yr old Edradour is handmade & one of the last Single Malts from a traditional farm distillery still in production today. The method remains virtually unchanged in 150 years & its barely capable of commercial quantities (They make as much whisky in a year as most distilleries do in a week) A rare pleasure for a fortunate few.
Nose: Medium, great complexity. Thoroughly fruity, sherry, sweetness, alluring vanilla.
Palate: Cloying, seductive murkiness. Rum, barley, toasted almonds. Some may find themselves lost in the mêlée, not quite enough method to the madness.
Finish: Any confusion is arrested: spiced fruitcake with crème anglaise.
Overall: An unusual malt, delicious honey notes complimented by an oily mouthfeel and a medium length and clean finish. Nice complexity for a fairly young malt.
